Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Principles

Daily Letter Grid is built on privacy-first principles: we do not collect personal data, we do not sell your information, and we do not track your identity. This Privacy Policy explains how your data is handled when you play Daily Letter Grid.

In the simplest terms: your gameplay progress and score history are stored locally in your browser, while website traffic data may be processed by third-party services such as Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and our web hosting provider. We do not require an account to play and we do not maintain a user profile database for players.

Advertising & Vendor Compliance

This website partners with Google AdSense to serve programmatic advertisements on our game pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites on the internet.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting the official Google Ads Settings Page. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

What Data We DO NOT Collect

  • Your name, email, phone number, or any personal identification
  • Account credentials or login information (no accounts required)
  • Payment information (Daily Letter Grid is completely free)
  • Location data or geographic tracking
  • A custom player account or persistent user ID created by us
  • Browsing history or activity across other websites
  • Behavioral profiles for advertising targeting

Local Storage & Gameplay Data

When you play Daily Letter Grid, certain game data is stored locally on your devicein your browser's localStorage. This includes:

  • Daily puzzle state such as score, found words, timer, current level, and found cells
  • Streak data and daily challenge progress
  • Challenge history and local completion statistics
  • Leaderboard entries and personal-best records stored in this browser only

This local data is not automatically synced between devices or browsers. If you use a different browser, device, or private browsing session, your saved progress will not follow you unless you manually preserve that browser data.

⚠️ Important: Browser Storage & Data Loss

This data is stored in your browser only. If you clear site data, local storage, or use tools that wipe browser storage, your game data can be permanently lost. Closing the browser tab does not delete this data by itself.

Cookies & Similar Technologies

Daily Letter Grid uses browser storage for gameplay and also loads Google Analytics and advertising scripts on the site. These vendors may set cookies or use similar browser technologies to measure traffic, remember adjustments, and personalize ad deliveries.

  • Analytics cookies or identifiers used by Google Analytics to distinguish visits and measure traffic
  • Advertising tokens or identifiers dropped by the Google AdSense programmatic platform pipeline
  • Local storage entries created by the game itself for progress, streaks, and local score history

Gameplay progress is not stored in cookies. If you block analytics or marketing cookies, core gameplay should still work, but custom metrics and targeted ad modules may fall back.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

Daily Letter Grid uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are being used. Depending on your browser and Google configuration, this can include:

  • Page views and user counts (how many people visited this page today)
  • Approximate device, browser, and operating-system information
  • Approximate geographic region inferred by Google
  • Traffic sources (for example, search, referral link, or direct visit)
  • Basic engagement metrics such as time on page or session counts

What our game logic does not intentionally send to Google Analytics: your letter selections, words found, streak data, local leaderboard contents, or saved localStorage entries.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can also review Google's privacy information at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Leaderboard & Score History

Daily Letter Grid stores leaderboard entries and personal-best data in your browser. In the current implementation, that leaderboard is local to the browser you are using and is not uploaded to our servers as a public profile.

  • Your score, words found, time, streak, and personal-best summaries may be saved locally on your device
  • Other people using the same browser profile on the same device may be able to see that local score history
  • Other players on different devices do not receive your local leaderboard automatically
  • If you choose to share a result manually, the information you share is under your control

Third-Party Services

Daily Letter Grid relies on standard third-party web infrastructure, Google AdSense for advertisement delivery, and Google for analytics. These providers may process technical request data such as:

  • IP address and network metadata
  • Request details such as URL, timestamps, status codes, and response times
  • Browser, device, referrer, and diagnostic information

GDPR Compliance

If you're in the European Union, you have certain rights under GDPR:

  • Right to Access: You can inspect locally stored gameplay data in your browser
  • Right to Delete: You can clear local browser storage and request deletion where third-party processors hold personal data
  • Right to Object or Restrict: You can use browser settings, extensions, or consent tools to limit analytics and advertising technologies where available
  • Right to Contact a Supervisory Authority: You may raise concerns with your local data-protection regulator

Because third-party analytics, hosting, or monetization platforms process technical data, some privacy rights can apply even though gameplay data remains inside browser storage.

Data Security

Since Daily Letter Grid does not collect personal information on its own gameplay servers:

  • 🔒We do not operate a player account database for gameplay progress
  • 🔒No hackers can steal payment info (we don't collect payment info)
  • 🔒Most gameplay state remains on your device in browser storage
  • 🔒HTTPS encryption protects data in transit between your browser and service providers

Children's Privacy

Daily Letter Grid does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. We don't require accounts, email, or any personal information, so children can play safely. Parents should enable appropriate browser controls if desired.
